چکیده

For database limitations, see following page ii DATABASE LIMITATIONS Content This database is preliminary and has not been reviewed for conformity with U.S. Geological Survey editorial standards or with the North American Stratigraphic Code. Any use of trade, product, or firm names is for descriptive purposes only and does not imply endorsement by the U.S. Government. This database, identified as Ò Geologic map and digital database of the Conejo Well 7.5 minute quadrangle, Riverside County, California,Ó has been approved for release and publication by the Director of the U.S. Geological Survey. Although this database has been subjected to rigorous review and is substantially complete, the USGS reserves the right to revise the data pursuant to further analysis and review. Furthermore, it is released on the condition that neither the USGS nor the United States Government may be held responsible for any damages resulting from its authorized or unauthorized use. Spatial Resolution Use of this digital geologic map should not violate the spatial resolution of the data. The Conejo Well database was developed using digital orthophotograph quarter quadrangles (DOQQs) as a base. DOQQs have a pixel resolution of 1 m and are accurate to a scale of 1:12,000 (1 in = 1,000 ft). Any enlargement beyond 1:12,000 exceeds the spatial resolution of the geologic data and should not be used in lieu of a more detailed site-specific geologic evaluation. Similarly, the digital topographic base map is derived from the U.S. Geological Survey, 1:24,000-scale Conejo Well 7.5 minute quadrangle (provisional edition, 1986); any enlargement beyond 1:24,000 exceeds the spatial resolution of the topographic data. Where the geologic data is used in combination with the topographic data, the resolution of the combined output is limited by the lower resolution of the topographic data. Where this database is used in combination with other data of higher resolution, the resolution of the combined output will be limited by the lower resolution of these data.

Evaluation of Use of Remote-sensing Imagery in Refinement of Geologic Mapping for Seismic Hazard Zoning in Northern Los Angeles County, California

The California Seismic Hazards Mapping Act of 1990 directs the California Geological Survey (CGS) to delineate seismic hazard zones of required investigation for earthquake-induced ground failures specifically, liquefaction and seismically triggered landslides. To date, more than 100 official Seismic Hazard Zone maps have been released, covering 200 cities and unincorporated areas in ten counti...

Preliminary Geologic Map of the McTarnahan Hill Quadrangle, Douglas County, Nevada

The preliminary geologic map of the McTarnahan Hill quadrangle, first released in 1999 in PDF format, was originally drafted in Adobe Illustrator. This Second Edition (Revised 2009) was converted and modified slightly in ArcMap Version 9.3. The Quaternary unit descriptions were not significantly changed from the original map. Bedrock unit descriptions were modified and corrected, and sections w...

The late Middle Devonian fauna of Red Hill I, Nevada, and its paleobiogeographic implications

Red Hill I forms the northern end of the Northern Simpson Park Range, northwest of Eureka, Nevada. The Red Hill I locality (lowest part of Red Hill section II in Murphy et al. 1976, Red Hill I of Gregory et al. 1977) lies near the exposed bottom of a sequence of reddish, yellow and greenish gray silty lime mudstones, approximately 80 m thick, at the base of the southwest flank of Red Hill (NW ,...

Geology of the Victoria quadrangle (H02), Mercury

Mercury’s quadrangle H02 ‘Victoria’ is located in the planet’s northern hemisphere and lies between latitudes 22.5° N and 65° N, and between longitudes 270° E and 360° E. This quadrangle covers 6.5% of the planet’s surface with a total area of almost 5 million km. Our 1:3,000,000-scale geologic map of the quadrangle was produced by photo-interpretation of remotely sensed orbital images captured...
